Kathryn Hayden:  Taos photographer Kathryn A. Hayden’s work goes beyond a mere moment in time. Her works convey an untold and timeless story beyond what is first captured through the lens. She brings “personality” and texture to the scene she has captured. She identifies strongly with Michelango’s description of his art: “The best artist has that thought alone Which is contained within the marble shell; The sculptor’s hand can only break the spell To free the figures slumbering in the stone.” And that is the Story that she aims to free as both photographer and visual storyteller.

Mark Schumann

Mark Schumann and his wife, Cheri, moved from Vero Beach, Florida to New Mexico in June of 2014. Mark began his journalism career as a photographer.  He continues to enjoy landscape and wildlife photography, and has experience as a wedding and portrait photographer. In addition to his work as a photojournalist, Mark’s newspaper career included experience in reporting, editing, advertising and marketing.  He continues to edit and publish InsideVero.com, an online news website for Vero Beach. Mark earned a B.S. degree in Journalism from the University of Central Florida, and a Masters of Divinity degree from Columbia Seminary. Two years ago, Mark returned to photographing with film, using a medium format and large format camera.

“The interest in photographing with film, at least for me, is more about process than it is about results. I realize digital sensors ‘capture light at least as well as film does. When photographing with film, I take my time. The process is slower, so I find myself paying more attention to composition, lighting and exposure. More importantly, because I am working more deliberately, I feel more connected to the subject I am photographing.”

Dane Spangler: I seek moments when sky engages land in amazing ways. In an age where digital manipulation can make anything possible, I want to find “impossible” moments that are real: to present images that remind us that the natural world is an awesome luminous story, a dynamic living entity of wonder and power. The rainbow is real.
